Job summary

Arcadis in Vancouver is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Structural Engineer to lead design and construction support for transportation, data center, water and commercial buildings. You will collaborate with peers in Toronto-West and other Arcadis offices worldwide to ensure code-compliant, buildable solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; master's in structural engineering is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of structural design and construction support experience.
  • Registered P. Eng in British Columbia; Designated Structural Engineer is an asset.
  • Registration in other provinces is an asset.
  • Experience with 3D BIM tools (REVIT/Navisworks) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct the structural analysis and design of structures; prepare drawings and specs.
  • Carry out seismic analysis, design, and seismic performance assessment.
  • Coordinate with Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical disciplines.
  • Attend meetings and prepare presentations when required.
  • Prepare bid documentation for project pursuits.
  • Conduct periodic site reviews to ensure construction complies with design and codes.
  • Review submittals (RFIs, Shop Drawings) during CA phase.
  • Provide direction to Engineering and CAD staff.
  • Provide peer reviews of other engineer's work.
  • Perform QA/QC activities.

Our Structural Team is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Structural Engineer to join the growing team in Vancouver office in British Columbia Province. The successful individual will develop and manage projects including structural design and construction support for the construction of new or modification to existing transportation, data center, water & wastewater, commercial, industrial, power, and institutional buildings & structures, ensuring conformance with building codes and project requirements. The scope of projects managed by our department ranges from minor renovations to major projects. The Structural Engineer will be collaborating with peer engineers and BIM modelers in Toronto-West head office and other Arcadi's offices around the globe. This job will involve coordination with other disciplines in house and offices around the world.

Role accountabilities:
  • Conduct the structural analysis & design of structures and prepare drawings and specifications
  • Carry out seismic analysis, seismic design, and seismic performance assessment
  • Coordination with other design disciplines (Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical, etc…)
  • Attend meetings and prepare presentations when required
  • Prepare bid documentation for project pursuits
  • Conduct periodic site reviews to ensure construction complies with design intent and codes
  • Reviewing & responding to submittals (RFI's, Shop Drawings, etc...) during CA phase of projects
  • Provide direction to, and work with, Engineering & CAD staff
  • Provide peer reviews of other engineer's work
  • Perform QA/QC activities
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Master's degree in Structural Engineering is an asset
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in structural design and construction support
  • Registered P. Eng in British Columbia, title of Designated Structural Engineer will be an asset
  • Registration in other provinces is an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Canadian design standards and codes
  • Knowledge of US codes and standards is an asset
  • Proficiency and understanding of structural design software such as ETABS, SAFE, Robot, SAP2000 is expected
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and software such as Bluebeam is expected
  • Knowledge of 3D BIM is an asset such as REVIT & Navisworks
  • You will work in a multi-disciplined team environment and will be expected to demonstrate a collaborative attitude in working with members of the team
  • Ability to confidently relate with all levels of staff and clientele - Internal and External
  • Excellent work ethic and desire to succeed
  • Effective communication in the English language (verbal and written)

The salary range for this position is Intermediate structural salary range: 91k to 95k. Senior structural salary range: 100K to 120k. The base salary represents Arcadis' hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
