Job summary

Arcadis in Toronto West is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead structural design and construction support for transportation, data center, water, commercial and industrial projects. The successful candidate will develop and manage designs, coordinate with BIM teams globally, and ensure conformance with codes.

You will perform seismic analysis, prepare drawings, coordinate with Architecture, Electrical and Mechanical disciplines, attend meetings, and prepare bid documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s in Structural Engineering is an asset.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in structural design and construction support.
• Registered P. Eng in Ontario; provincial registration preferred.
• Canadian design standards knowledge; US codes an asset.
• Proficient in ETABS, SAFE, Robot, SAP2000; BIM tools like REVIT/Navisworks.
• Familiar with MS Office and Bluebeam; strong English communication.
• Driver’s license and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Review submittals during CA phase (RFI’s, shop drawings).
• Provide direction to Engineering & CAD staff; perform peer reviews.

Role description:

Our Structural Team is seeking an Senior Structural Engineer to join the growing team in Toronto West office . The successful individual will develop and manage projects including structural design and construction support for the construction of new or modification to existing transportation, data center, water & wastewater, commercial, industrial, power, and institutional buildings & structures, ensuring conformance with building codes and project requirements. The scope of projects managed by our department ranges from minor renovations to major projects. The Structural Engineer will be collaborating with peer engineers and BIM modelers in other Arcadis’s offices around the globe. This job will involve coordination with other disciplines in house and offices around the world.

Role accountabilities:

Most of the Things You’ll Work on:

• Conduct the structural analysis & design of structures and prepare drawings and specifications
• Carry out seismic analysis, seismic design, and seismic performance assessment
• Coordination with other design disciplines (Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical, etc…)
• Attend meetings and prepare presentations when required
• Prepare bid documentation for project pursuits
• Conduct periodic site reviews to ensure construction complies with design intent and codes
• Reviewing & responding to submittals (RFI’s, Shop Drawings, etc…) during CA phase of projects
• Provide direction to, and work with, Engineering & CAD staff
• Provide peer reviews of other engineer’s work
• Perform QA/QC activities

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is an asset
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience in structural design and construction support
• Registered P. Eng in Ontario
• Registration in other provinces is an asset
• Knowledge and understanding of Canadian design standards and codes
• Knowledge of US codes and standards is an asset
• Proficiency and understanding of structural design software such as ETABS, SAFE, Robot, SAP2000 is expected
• Experience with Microsoft Office and software such as Bluebeam is expected
• Knowledge of 3D BIM is an asset such as REVIT & Navisworks
• You will work in a multi-disciplined team environment and will be expected to demonstrate a collaborative attitude in working with members of the team
• Ability to confidently relate with all levels of staff and clientele - Internal and External
• Excellent work ethic and desire to succeed
• Effective communication in the English language (verbal and written)
• Driver’s License

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
