Job summary

Design Works Engineering is seeking a Senior Structural Technologist to lead drafting on multi-family, commercial and institutional projects in Calgary. You will model in Revit and AutoCAD, detail connections, and coordinate with in-house teams to ensure clash-free, complete drawings.

The role requires 8+ years of structural drafting experience, strong Revit/AutoCAD skills, and knowledge of Alberta Building Code as it applies to structural drawings.

Qualifications

• Diploma in civil or structural engineering technology required.
• 8+ years of structural drafting, modelling and detailing on buildings.
• Advanced Revit and AutoCAD skills.
• Detailing experience in wood, steel and concrete.
• Working knowledge of the Alberta Building Code for structural drawings.
• Experience reviewing others' drawings and guiding junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural drawing production from model to issued-for-construction set.
• Model and detail in Revit and AutoCAD — foundations, framing, connections.
• Convert sketches into clear buildable drawings; flag gaps early.
• Coordinate with architects and in-house teams to catch clashes early.
• Set and maintain drafting standards, templates, and QA/QC checks.
• Mentor junior technologists and review their work.
• Support construction by revisions, shop-drawing checks, and site visits.
