Job summary

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Senior Structural Project Engineer with 8–12 years of experience focused on water resource-related work, including fisheries, hydropower, dams, and flood control.

The successful candidate will lead complex design and analysis efforts, develop FEA models using ABAQUS or ANSYS, mentor staff, and travel up to 15% to project sites and client locations as needed. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • 10+ years of structural engineering experience with project management preferred.
  • PE license (PE.G) and experience with water-resource projects.
  • Experience with seismic loads analysis methods.
  • Knowledge of ASCE7, ACI 318/350, AISC 360/341.
  • Familiarity with FERC, USACE, USBR codes.

  • Evaluate, select and apply advanced structural design techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Develop FEA models and perform linear and non-linear analysis; present results to clients in an understandable manner.
  • Manage projects: deliverables, project team, changes to scope, communication plans, and monitoring of work.
  • Evaluate and manage planning, design and construction support services for projects.
  • Collect and analyze field data, as-built plans and engineering reports to establish existing conditions and identify design criteria.
  • Provide mentorship to other engineering staff.
  • Travel (up to 15%) to project sites and client locations.

Senior Structural Project Engineer

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Project Engineer with 8-12 years of experience focused on water resource-related work. The candidate will work in a variety of projects in fields including but not limited to fisheries, fish passage, hydropower, dams, flood control, pump stations, and other civil infrastructure related projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate, select and apply advanced structural design techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Develop FEA models and perform linear and non-linear analysis, using available software. Be comfortable presenting analysis results to clients in a manner that is easy to understand.
  • Manage projects by establishing project deliverables, developing the project team, manage changes to project scope, establish communication plans, and monitor and control project work.
  • Evaluate and manage planning, design and construction support services for projects.
  • Collection and analysis of field data, as-built plans and engineering reports to establish existing conditions and identify critical areas for design criteria.
  • Provide mentorship to other engineering staff.
  • Travel (up to 15% of time) is required to project sites and client locations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited University.
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer with Project Management experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE.G) license
  • Demonstrated experience with water resource infrastructure including fishery related projects, hydropower, dams, water conveyance, storm water networks, heavy grading, water treatment, spillways, and pump stations.
  • Experience with advanced FEA modeling for linear and non-linear structural analysis utilizing software including ABAQUS or ANSYS/LS DYNA.
  • Demonstrated expertise in application of seismic loads analysis, including coefficient methods, response spectrum analysis methods and time history analysis methods.
  • Proficient knowledge of various structural design standards including: ASCE7, ACI 318 and 350, AISC 360 and 341 among others.
  • Familiarity with Federal Agency codes and requirements, including FERC, USACE, USBR.
  • Strong communication, technical and analytical skills.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Ability to get along and work effectively with others.

Compensation Package:
  • Pay Range: $114,000 - $187,000 (DOE)
  • Benefits: McMillen provides a full Benefits Program comprising of Basic Life, AD&D, Dependent Life, Extended Health Care, to include Vision Care, Health Care Spending Account, Employer RRSP and TFSA with employer matching contribution, 11 paid holidays, generous PTO, opportunity for stock ownership, and wellness reimbursement.
