Job summary

McMillen, Inc. seeks a Senior Structural Project Engineer with 8–12 years of experience in water resource projects. You will work across dams, hydropower, fish passage, flood control, and related civil infrastructure, applying advanced design and FEA methods.

You will lead project teams, coordinate design deliverables, and interact with clients. Travel up to 15% and a strong commitment to mentorship and technical excellence are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited University.
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer with Project Management experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE.G) license
  • Experience with water resource infrastructure including fishery related projects, hydropower, dams, water conveyance, storm water networks, heavy grading, water treatment, spillways, and pump stations.
  • Experience with advanced FEA modeling for linear and non-linear structural analysis utilizing ABAQUS or ANSYS/LS DYNA.
  • Knowledge of seismic loads analysis methods and structural design standards (ASCE7, ACI 318/350, AISC 360/341).

  • Develop FEA models and perform linear and non-linear analysis; present results to clients clearly.
  • Manage projects by establishing deliverables, developing the project team, overseeing scope changes, and monitoring work.
  • Evaluate and manage planning, design and construction support services for projects.
  • Collect and analyze field data and existing plans to identify critical design areas.
  • Provide mentorship to other engineering staff.
  • Travel (up to 15%) to project sites and client locations.

  • Manage projects by establishing project deliverables, developing the project team, manage changes to project scope, establish communication plans, and monitor and control project work.
  • Evaluate and manage planning, design and construction support services for projects.
  • Collection and analysis of field data, as-built plans and engineering reports to establish existing conditions and identify critical areas for design criteria.
  • Provide mentorship to other engineering staff.
  • Travel (up to 15% of time) is required to project sites and client locations.
Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer with Project Management experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience with water resource infrastructure including fishery related projects, hydropower, dams, water conveyance, storm water networks, heavy grading, water treatment, spillways, and pump stations.
  • Experience with advanced FEA modeling for linear and non-linear structural analysis utilizing software including ABAQUS or ANSYS/LS DYNA.
  • Demonstrated expertise in application of seismic loads analysis, including coefficient methods, response spectrum analysis methods and time history analysis methods.
  • Proficient knowledge of various structural design standards including: ASCE7, ACI 318 and 350, AISC 360 and 341 among others.
  • Familiarity with Federal Agency codes and requirements, including FERC, USACE, USBR.
  • Strong communication, technical and analytical skills.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Ability to get along and work effectively with others.

Compensation Package
  • Pay Range: $114,000 - $187,000 (DOE)
  • Benefits: McMillen provides a full Benefits Program comprising of Basic Life, AD&D, Dependent Life, Extended Health Care, to include Vision Care, Health Care Spending Account, Employer RRSP and TFSA with employer matching contribution, 11 paid holidays, generous PTO, opportunity for stock ownership, and wellness reimbursement.
