Job description

Our client is a well-established company in the precast concrete industry. They are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join their Guelph office on a permanent full-time basis.

The Senior Structural Engineer plays a pivotal role in leading and managing structural engineering projects from conception through completion, ensuring alignment with company goals and industry standards. This position requires expertise in the design, analysis, and testing of concrete and steel pipe systems, focusing on durability, efficiency, and safety. The priority for this role is to deliver high-quality structural designs that support company strategic objectives, contributing to the company's growth and maintaining its reputation for excellence in the industry.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Designing specifically underground concrete structures such as valve chambers, circular manholes, water retention tanks, box culverts and three-sided bridge structures.
• Must be familiar with earth loads, live loads, and general heavy civil construction industry.
• Must be familiar with handling and lifting such concrete structures.
• Represent company externally in all technical platforms by participating in technical committee and industry events such as: OCPA/CCPPA, ACPA, CPCI, CSA, etc.
• Liaise with Engineers and technical personnel from consulting Engineering firms, customers, and public sector officials.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Civil & Structural Engineering
• A valid designated Engineering professional in good standing; PEO (Professional Engineers Ontario)
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in designing reinforced concrete structures.
• 10 years’ experience in the precast industry combined with multi-disciplinary engineering
• Effective technical communication skills
