Job summary

Tri Innovations in Calgary, Alberta, seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead our structural team on diverse projects across midstream energy, bulk handling, transportation, agriculture, and renewables. You will oversee deliverables, coordinate with clients and consultants, and contribute to cost estimates and value engineering.

Requirements include a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, 10+ years' experience, and eligibility for P.Eng. in Canada.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited University.
  • Eligible for registration with APEGA as a P.Eng., or registered in another Canadian province with eligibility for P.Eng.
  • 10+ years of structural engineering experience, with leadership as a project/discipline lead as an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian building codes and standards, industry standards and regulations.
  • Experience with structural analysis software S-Frame, RISA 3D, RISA Connection.
  • Experience with structural steel design, connections, modularization, piles, concrete foundations, and engineering calculations.
  • Experience working with steel fabrication vendors and site construction, RFIs, and contract administration.
  • Well organized, able to multi-task and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural engineering team in developing project deliverables.
  • Prepare technical drawings, calculations, equipment specifications, datasheets, material requisitions, and technical bid evaluations.
  • Maintain corporate structural engineering work procedures and specifications.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, prepare site observation reports, and assist with contract administration.
  • Attend project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in value engineering and basic cost estimating.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Leading the structural engineering team in the development of project deliverables.

  • Prepare technical drawings, calculations, equipment specifications, datasheets, material requisitions, and technical bid evaluations.

  • Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.

  • Participate in value engineering and basic cost estimating.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited University.

  • Registered with APEGA, or registered with the provincial body as an engineer in another province in Canada, and eligible for registration with APEGA as a P.Eng.

  • 10+ years of structural engineering experience. Experience as a discipline lead or project lead is an asset.

  • Working knowledge of Canadian building codes and standards, relevant industry standards and regulations.

  • Experience with structural analysis software S-Frame, RISA 3D, RISA Connection is an asset.

  • Experience with engineering design of structural steel, steel connections, modularization, piles, concrete foundations, engineering calculations.

  • Experience working with steel fabrication vendors and site construction work and responding to RFI’s in a timely fashion.

  • Well organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects. Strong organizational interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada, be a resident, and residing in Calgary or be willing to relocate to Calgary, to be considered for the position.
