Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Software Engineer for our Fleet Safety team. You will be a technical leader responsible for guiding the team’s architecture to support advanced features and customer use cases, ensuring Samsara remains at the forefront of safety, sustainability, and efficiency. This hands-on role involves working on critical projects with highly skilled engineers.

Team Focus

The Fleet Safety team develops solutions using GPS Fleet Tracking and AI Dash Cam hardware to improve driver safety through AI and data analysis, providing real-time feedback and streamlined video coaching to enhance safety programs and driver trust.

This is a remote position open to candidates in Canada.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering
• 15+ years of software engineering experience, with 8+ years in leadership and 6+ years leading projects
• Entrepreneurial experience
• Strong programming fundamentals
• Experience with large-scale enterprise software

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science/Engineering
• Experience applying Machine Learning/AI
• Proficiency in Go, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C/C++

Compensation

Annual base salary ranges from $178,400 to $245,300 CAD, depending on location and experience.
