Job summary

Coinbase, a remote-first company, seeks a Senior Staff Software Engineer on the FinHub team within the Platform Product Group. You will define the technical vision for the financial infrastructure powering Coinbase, leading the ledger and money-movement architecture with a focus on correctness, security, reliability, and scale.

You will drive multi-quarter strategy, architect reusable primitives across fiat and crypto fund flows, and mentor senior engineers while aligning with regulatory

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience in large-scale backend distributed systems.
• Experience with financial, payments, ledger, or high-consequence transaction systems.
• Backend experience in Go, Java, or Python.
• Ability to drive multi-quarter technical strategy across multiple teams.
• Strong ability to communicate complex tradeoffs to executives and stakeholders.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Define multi-quarter technical strategy for FinHub's ledger and money-movement platform.
• Architect unified primitives across fiat and crypto fund flows (balances, holds, settlements, postings, transfers).
• Lead rearchitecture of distributed workflows with strong correctness and auditability.
• Drive end-to-end design and rollout of large cross-team initiatives with clear milestones.
• Partner with Payments, Product, Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to align architecture with business priorities.
• Mentor senior engineers and raise the bar for system design and maintainability.
