The Role

The Senior Staff Accountant is a professional with strong financial acumen, understanding of corporate accounting, and the ability to maintain and update the general ledger, financial records, and statements. Success involves completing delegated tasks efficiently and accurately. Reporting to the Head of Finance and working closely with the team in Toronto, this role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving. You should enjoy working with people and processes, and be comfortable connecting with various roles and levels within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries for month-end close.
• Maintain general ledger of multiple companies.
• Assist in compiling month-end management reports, including joint venture results.
• Assist in submitting corporate reporting packages on time.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
• Support budgets and forecasts.
• Prepare payroll files and reconcile monthly adjustments.
• Handle monthly sales tax filings.
• Assist with audits and tax returns.
• Identify efficiencies to improve financial processes.
• Support commercial finance needs.
• Handle ad-hoc requests to meet business needs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-5 years of related experience.
• Experience in the advertising or related industry.
• CPA designation or enrollment is a plus.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Advantage and Cartesis is a plus.
