The Role

The Senior Staff Accountant is a buttoned-down professional with a strong financial acumen, understanding of corporate accounting, and the ability to maintain and update the general ledger, financial records, and financial statements. Success in your role is to autonomously complete delegated tasks efficiently and accurately.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you'll work closely with the team in Toronto. We run lean, so this role requires you to have a proactive approach to problem solving.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prepare journal entries as required to meet month end close requirements.
2. Maintain the general ledger of multiple companies.
3. Assist in compilation of month end management reporting packages including consolidation of joint venture results.
4. Assist in submitting corporate reporting packages to meet deadlines.
5. Prepare and complete monthly bank reconciliation.
6. Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts files for review.
7. Prepare the payroll file on the system and reconcile it to the expected monthly adjustments.
8. Prepare and file monthly sales tax filing.
9. Assist with audits and tax returns.
10. Identify and recommend potential efficiencies to improve financial process.
11. Understand and support commercial finance needs.
12. Ad-hoc requests to meet business needs.

You have/are:

1. Detail oriented, strong organizational skills and demonstrable accounting ability.
2. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
3. Effectively works autonomously as well as within a group, in a fast-paced environment.
4. Problem solving skills, excellent attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy.
5. Exceptional time management and multi-tasking skills.
6. Ensure strict confidentiality at all times.

Requirements & Qualifications:

1. Accounting or Finance Degree required.
2. 3 – 5 years experience in related field.
3. Work experience in the Advertising or related industry.
4. CPA designation or enrollment in CPA program a plus.
5. Advanced capabilities in Microsoft Excel a must, experience in Advantage and Cartesis a plus.
