Job description

We are a small public practice firm in NW Calgary and are looking to add a full-time Sr. Accountant to our team. An ideal candidate for this role would be someone with a positive, team oriented attitude, strong communication skills and the desire to advance to more senior roles within the firm. We are a family oriented firm that can offer flexible work arrangements and place a large emphasis on work life balance.

Responsibilities:

• Independently manage files that are assigned; including meeting deadlines, taking part in year-end meetings and researching accounting and tax technical issues
• Assist junior staff in the completion of their work and development of their technical abilities
• Preparation of compilation engagements including completion of all working papers, adjusting journal entries, and financial statements
• Preparation of review engagements and tax planning for corporate clients
• Completion of personal and corporate tax returns
• Familiarity with payroll and GST filings

Requirements:

• CPA Accounting Designation required or in progress
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a small to mid-size Accounting firm
• Proficient with Caseware, Taxprep (T1, T2 and T3) and MS Office and Outlook
• Experience with preparation of compiled financial information
• Experience with review engagement procedures and financial statements prepared under ASPE
• Preparation of personal and corporate tax returns
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
