Job Summary:

CSA Group has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Workday Analyst, HCM & Financials to be responsible for the configuration, integrity, security, and continuous improvement of CSA Group’s Workday platform across Financials (FIN) and Human Capital Management (HCM). This role is subject matter expert for both pillars and owns the functional configuration of financial and HCM business processes, the Workday foundation data model, and the associated reporting, integration, and security components. The role reports into Operations and takes functional direction from Finance and HR process owners. The position is accountable for the Workday roadmap — evaluating new functionality, assessing business value, effort, and risk, and maintaining a prioritized enhancement backlog agreed with Finance, HR, and IT stakeholders. It owns tenant and environment management, governs the feature release and weekly service update cycle, and administers Workday security under segregation of duties controls with documented approval and audit evidence. The role provides day-to-day functional and technical support, supports period-end and year-end close, and liaises with internal and external auditors on system controls, user access, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as subject matter expert for Workday Financials and HCM, advising Finance, HR, managers, and workers on best practices and correct application of the Workday data model.
  • Uses knowledge of corporate policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements to ensure Workday configuration is compliant, auditable, and reflects how the business operates.
  • Maintains working knowledge of the end-to-end connection between HCM and Financials, assessing cross-pillar impact before making changes.
  • Owns and maintains the Workday roadmap, monitoring feature releases for relevant functionality, assessing business value and risk, and maintaining a prioritized backlog agreed with Finance, HR, and IT.
  • Leverages familiarity with AI tools and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for automation, predictive analytics, and enhanced reporting.
  • Acts as liaison between Finance, HR, Payroll, Procurement, Treasury, and IT, and as escalation point for Workday functional queries.
  • Coordinates with internal and external auditors on control evidence, user access reviews, security design, and system-generated reporting.
  • Manages relationships with Workday and implementation, application management, and integration partners, including support case escalation and deliverable acceptance.
  • Provides guidance, coaching, training, and knowledge transfer to functional super users, the HRIS Specialist, and other analysts supporting the platform.
  • Configures and maintains Workday Financials, including the foundation data model and financial business processes, assessing every change for downstream reporting, integration, security, and close impact.
  • Provides configuration, maintenance, and testing across Financial Accounting, Customer Accounts and Billing, Supplier Accounts, Banking and Settlement, Expenses, Procurement, Business Assets, and Projects and Grants, and supports period-end and year-end close.
  • Configures and maintains HCM areas in scope, including supervisory organizations, job and position management, compensation, and absence/time off, along with the costing and payroll accounting bridge to Financials.
  • Develops and maintains custom reports, calculated fields, dashboards, and worklets, manages report scheduling and inventory, and supports Prism Analytics and Adaptive Planning content where deployed.
  • Builds, monitors, and supports integrations using EIB, Core Connectors, Document Transformation, and Workday Studio, and manages mass data loads and corrections.
  • Owns the release cycle, reviewing release notes, assessing impact, planning and executing regression testing in Sandbox Preview, coordinating business validation, and updating documentation and training.
  • Manages the Workday tenant landscape (Production, Sandbox, Sandbox Preview, Implementation), coordinating refresh schedules and promoting change between tenants with a maintained migration and change log.
  • Administers Workday security, including domain and business process security policies, security group design, role assignment, delegation, and proxy access, and maintains security documentation.
  • Maintains the segregation of duties matrix for Financials and HCM, identifies and remediates conflicts, and conducts periodic user access reviews and recertification.
  • Accountable for audit activities ensuring data integrity, liaising with internal and external auditors for file, report, and evidence requests, and supporting financial control testing.
  • Provides day-to-day functional and technical support, triaging and resolving tickets against defined SLAs, and conducts root cause analysis on recurring issues.
  • Maintains regression test scripts and test data, and coordinates user acceptance testing for enhancements and releases.
  • Leverages AI and automation to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve data accuracy.
  • Maintains configuration workbooks, business process diagrams, security matrices, integration inventories, and job aids, and delivers training to support platform adoption.
  • Completes special projects and reports as required.
  • Understands why HSE is important, reports hazards and incidents, completes assigned training, and participates in workplace inspections and audits.

Education & Experience:

  • University degree or college diploma in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business, or a related field. CPA designation or equivalent accounting background considered an asset.
  • Six to eight-plus (6-8+) years of hands‑on ERP systems experience, with demonstrated depth in both Workday Financials and Workday HCM.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring Workday Financials business processes and the foundation data model, including worktags, ledger accounts, account posting rules, and organizational structures.
  • Demonstrated experience with Workday reporting, including custom report types, calculated fields, dashboards, data sources, and report security. Prism Analytics and Adaptive Planning experience an asset.
  • Experience with Workday integrations, including EIB, Core Connectors, Document Transformation, and Studio. Workday Extend experience an asset.
  • Experience administering Workday security, including domain and business process security policies, security group design, role assignment, and segregation of duties analysis and remediation.
  • Experience managing Workday tenants and the feature release cycle, including Sandbox Preview regression testing and configuration migration.
  • Experience supporting period-end and year-end close, and working with internal and external auditors on system controls, access reviews, and evidence.

Skills:

  • Accreditations: Workday Pro certification in Financials, HCM, Reporting, Integrations, or Security highly desirable.
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles and core financial processes: general ledger and record‑to‑report, procure‑to‑pay, order‑to‑cash, fixed assets, expense and project accounting.
  • Familiarity with AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance business processes, reporting, and automation.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft applications.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities, with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise diplomacy in sensitive situations involving financial, compensation, and worker data.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple competing deadlines, particularly around period close, release windows, and audits.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate between financial and HR process language and system configuration, and to explain change to non-technical audiences.
  • Desire to learn and become familiar with new technologies; assimilates knowledge quickly and effectively.

This is a hybrid position requiring regular in-person attendance and punctuality in accordance with Company policies. Additionally, the ability to interact well with other employees and work overtime, as necessary, is required.

The typical hiring range for this position is $100,890 - $132,416, however, based on a variety of considerations (such as education, licenses, certifications and/or experience,) CSA Group reserves the right to flexibility outside of the stated range.
