Job summary

General Motors in Markham, ON seeks a Senior Software Quality Automation Developer to lead the design of internal full-stack tools, automate CI/CD pipelines, and assure high-quality software delivery across engineering teams.

The role requires strong Python or C++, frontend/backend experience, cloud and container tech, and collaboration across DevOps, QA and systems engineering. Hybrid work with three days onsite weekly is provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS/SE or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, software development, QA, tools development, and web applications.
• Proficient in Python or C++.
• Frontend and/or backend development experience (HTML/React/JS/TS/CSS; Node.js/Express/Flask/GraphQL).
• Experience with databases like MongoDB, SQL/NoSQL, Postgres, Databricks.
• Familiarity with test frameworks (Robot, Unittest, Selenium, PyTest, CppUTest).
• Strong problem-solving, learning mindset, and collaboration.
• Strong communication skills.
• Time management and ability to work independently.
• Authorized to work in Canada and willing to travel to the US.
• Valid Canadian driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of internal full-stack tools and frameworks for CI/CD and test automation.
• Build and maintain full-stack applications supporting requirement owners, developers and QA teams.
• Create solutions that integrate with version control systems, build pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
• Collaborate with DevOps, QA, and engineering teams to embed automation and monitoring into the delivery lifecycle.
