Marler & Associates Search seeks an experienced Senior Software Manual Controller to support the Canadian Armed Forces as part of the DSEF program for the Department of National Defence (DND).

The role focuses on software development documentation control, repository management, version tracking, and learning material development. A Secret clearance is required, with 4 days in-office and 1 day remote in Canada.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in software documentation management and related domains.
  • Experience maintaining documentation standards across the software development life cycle.
  • Ability to review training materials and tailor content for specific audiences.
  • Facilitate audits, verification, and reporting of documentation completeness and quality.
  • Active Secret security clearance is required; ability to be vetted under the Controlled Goods Program.

Responsibilities

  • Manage electronic repositories of software development manuals, testing documentation, and related files.
  • Monitor documents under management: versions, types, release registry, archiving activities.
  • Conduct audits and report discrepancies to management.
  • Review vendor training materials and tailor as needed for audiences.
  • Advise management on software documentation improvements and decision-making.
  • Design and create online learning modules and course materials.
  • Draft documentation reviews and audit reports.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Manual Controller (SW Man Contr) to join our team. This position will support the Canadian Armed Forces as part of the DSEF program for the Department of National Defence (DND).

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in the control and management of software development documentation, including repository management, version and release tracking, documentation audits, and the development of training and instructional materials. This role requires demonstrated experience maintaining documentation standards across the software development life cycle and the ability to advise management and stakeholders on documentation matters. This critical position will contribute to KWESST’s mission of developing and maintaining state-of-the-art solutions for the Canadian Armed Forces.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage electronic repositories of software development manuals, testing documentation, and all other documentation related to software development.
  • Monitor and report on documents under management, including versions, document types, the release registry, and archiving activities.
  • Perform audits, verify documentation standardization and completeness, and report discrepancies to management.
  • Review training materials from vendors and provide recommendations on their suitability and fit-for-purpose, including any tailoring required for specific audiences.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and recommendations on software documentation to support management decision-making.
  • Recommend changes to software documentation content through the review of training needs and consultation with managers and instructors.
  • Design and create online learning modules and online course materials.
  • Draft software documentation reviews and audit reports.
Qualifications

Education:

  • An undergraduate university degree in any discipline is preferred.
  • A college diploma is acceptable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience within the last 5 years in at least 3 of the following domain areas.
  • A:Managing electronic repositories of software development manuals, testing documentation, and all other documentation related to software development.
  • B:Monitoring and reporting on documents under management, including versions, document types, the release registry, and archiving activities.
  • C:Performing audits, verifying documentation standardization and completeness, and reporting discrepancies to management.
  • D:Reviewing training materials from vendors and making recommendations on their suitability and fit-for-purpose, as well as any necessary tailoring for specific audiences.
  • Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience within the last 5 years in at least 4 of the following communications areas.
  • A:Providing advice, guidance, and recommendations on software documentation to support the decision-making of management.
  • B:Recommending changes to software documentation content through the review of training needs or consultation with managers and instructors.
  • C:Designing and creating online learning modules and online course materials.
  • D:Reviewing training materials from vendors and making recommendations on their suitability and fit-for-purpose, as well as any necessary tailoring for specific audiences.
  • E:Drafting software documentation reviews and audit reports.
  • An active Secret security clearance is required.
  • Ability to be vetted under the Controlled Goods Program is required.
  • Knowledge of SAFe Agile principles is an asset.
  • An understanding of the DND organization is a great asset.
