Job summary

Optro is seeking a senior software engineer to lead large, strategic projects and mentor engineers. You will architect scalable systems, implement back-end APIs in Python and Node.js, and contribute to SPA front-ends using React, Ember, or Vue. Collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers is essential, within an Agile lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience building web applications.
  • Experience guiding high-quality work across multiple developers.
  • Experience with Django or Rails or equivalent web frameworks.
  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, Ember, Angular).
  • Experience writing REST/JSON APIs (Swagger/OpenAPI).
  • Experience writing software tests.
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems.
  • Bachelor’s or higher in CS or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship product features end-to-end.
  • Write clear, well-defined design documentation.
  • Mentor fellow engineers and lead architecture decisions.
  • Troubleshoot, debug and resolve software issues.
  • Implement back-end APIs in Python and Node.js; work on front-ends (React/Ember).
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers; participate in Agile SDLC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and ship product features end-to-end
  • Ability to write clear and well defined design documentation

Attributes of a Successful Candidate
  • 8+ years of experience developing web based applications
  • Experience guiding high quality work through delivery across multiple developers
  • Experience with a web framework such as Django or Rails
  • Experience with a modern front-end framework (React, Vue, Ember, Angular, etc.)
  • Experience writing REST / JSON APIs (Swagger / OpenAPI Spec)
  • Experience writing software tests
  • Ability to solve technical problems independently
  • B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Motivation to work hard and always be learning
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools, such as Terraform
  • Experience with Node.JS and modern ES6 or TypeScript
  • Experience with React or Ember.JS
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS
  • Experience working on SaaS web applications
  • Bonus: Docker or Kubernetes experience
