Job summary

ACV Auctions is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join the Platform Engineering group, focusing on the VIN Decoder backend. You will work with AWS Postgres, GCP BigQuery, Redis, and Python to build scalable data-driven services in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

You will contribute to architectural decisions, implement complex systems, and drive reliability and observability across multiple cloud platforms while improving data workflows and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 7+ years of experience programming in Python.
• 5+ years of experience with Cloud platforms preferably AWS or GCP.
• 5+ years of experience with Terraform/Infrastructure as Code concepts.
• 5+ years work with continuous integration and build tools.
• Experience architecting and designing systems for scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Experience with in-memory data processing and database monitoring tools (DataDog).
• Strong experience integrating 3rd‑party APIs and asynchronous data flows.
• Proficiency in SQL and query optimization.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a fast-paced global team.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the technical vision for multi-cloud infrastructure and system architecture.
• Design and build scalable, highly reliable services with focus on performance and observability.
• Implement service interfaces and third‑party API integrations.
• Develop and tune complex SQL queries and data models to support workflows.
• Collaborate with platform engineering to plan feature roll‑outs and reliability improvements.
• Lead code reviews, write tests, and document trade-offs for long‑term maintenance.
• Drive operational maturity, incident response, and on-call practices.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
