Job description

We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Software Developer for an enterprise contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a premier full-stack software engineering, application architecture, and technical delivery capacity, specializing in the design, development, and enhancement of scalable, multi-tier enterprise solutions.

As a Senior Software Developer, you will bridge the gap between business requirements, complex backend architectures, responsive modern frontends, and relational/NoSQL data platforms. Operating fully onsite in Toronto, you will lead the implementation of secure RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot, build user-friendly and accessible user interfaces using React and Angular, and design high-performance database schemas across PostgreSQL, PL/pgSQL, and Azure Cosmos DB. This position demands a seasoned development authority with extensive full-lifecycle software delivery tenure, robust automated testing and CI/CD capabilities, and a commitment to delivering resilient, high-quality enterprise applications.

• Design, build, and maintain robust backend microservices, RESTful APIs and batch processes utilizing Spring Boot and the broader Spring Framework.
• Design and implement modern, responsive, and accessible UI components and web applications utilizing React, Angular, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript.
• Architect and optimize database structures, normalization models, indexing strategies, stored procedures, and functions in PostgreSQL, PL/pgSQL and Azure Cosmos DB.
• Implement data persistence layers and object-relational mapping utilizing JPA, Hibernate, or MyBatis.
• Integrate caching solutions and middleware adapters using tools such as Redis to maximize backend throughput and minimize latency.
• Build, maintain, and execute automated test suites spanning unit, integration, API and end-to-end testing utilizing JUnit 5, Mockito, Jest and Playwright.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex application errors, performance bottlenecks, and integration defects across development, test and production environments.
• Support application deployments, data conversions, migrations and system integration testing in close collaboration with infrastructure and DevOps teams.
• Ensure all application interfaces comply with corporate security standards, performance benchmarks, and accessibility regulations (AODA/WCAG).
• Participate actively in Agile sprint ceremonies, technical design walkthroughs, backlog refinements and peer code reviews.

• Core Technical & Application Development Requirements
• Enterprise Development Tenure: Minimum 10+ years of hands‑on professional experience developing scalable, n-tier enterprise software applications.
• Backend Architecture (Java / Spring): Deep expertise in application design and microservices architecture using Java, Spring Boot, and the Spring ecosystem (Core, MVC, Security, Data, Batch).
• Modern Frontend Frameworks: Demonstrated proficiency building component-based, responsive web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript alongside React or Angular.
• Database & ORM Mastery: Strong expertise in database design, SQL development, and query tuning with PostgreSQL, PL/pgSQL, and Azure Cosmos DB, alongside hands‑on experience with ORM frameworks (JPA, Hibernate, MyBatis).
• Application Design Patterns: Proven expertise in modern design patterns (MVC, integration patterns, caching strategies), application performance optimization and troubleshooting.
• Test Automation & Quality Engineering: Strong experience in automated testing across the test pyramid, including JUnit 5, Mockito, Jest, and modern end-to-end testing frameworks (Playwright, Katalon).
• Requirements Elicitation: Proven experience gathering, analyzing and documenting technical and functional requirements from business stakeholders and subject matter experts.

• Cloud Platforms: Hands‑on experience deploying and supporting cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure (Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, and Azure Database for PostgreSQL).

• Agile Delivery: Solid track record working within structured Agile/Scrum delivery environments with CI/CD integration.
