Job summary

Google Canada is seeking software engineers to design and scale secure infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform that powers the generative AI agent lifecycle. You will build high-performance APIs and backend services enabling complex, autonomous AI agents for enterprise customers globally.

The role emphasizes backend security, reliability, and leadership, mentoring teams to deliver new 0-to-1 capabilities with startup agility in a fast-paced AI environment.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of software development experience across one or more languages.
• 3 years testing, maintaining, or launching software products; 1 year in design/architecture.
• 3 years in ML-related areas: speech/audio, RL, ML infra, or related field.
• 3 years of ML infra experience: deployment, evaluation, optimization, data processing.

Responsibilities

• Design and scale secure infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) powering the generative AI agent lifecycle.
• Develop high-performance APIs and backend services for AI agents with open-ended dialogues.
• Maintain data processing pipelines and backend logic to support AI-centric workflows for enterprise customers.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  
• 3 years of experience with one or more of the following: speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
• 3 years of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  
• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  
• Experience developing accessible technologies.

• Bring strong system sensibility to design and implement high-performance APIs and backend services that enable developers to build AI agents capable of complex, open-ended dialogues and autonomous task completion.
• Maintain the complex data processing pipelines and backend logic required to reliably support AI-centric workflows, ensuring the platform serves enterprise customers around the world at scale.
• Advocate back-end security and reliability best practices, building systems capable of safely supporting AI agents interacting in complex, real-world scenarios with high-profile customers.
• Lead the back-end technical goal, solve ambiguous technical issues, and mentor developing teams to rapidly deliver new 0-to-1 capabilities with startup agilitywhile directly collaborating with model builders.
