Job summary

Scotiabank in Toronto is seeking a Senior Software Developer to design, develop, and optimize scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot. You will work across multiple applications, build RESTful APIs, and contribute to data transformation and ETL processes while ensuring reliability and performance.

You will collaborate with product managers, QA, DevOps, and other developers, participate in code reviews, document components, and help drive architectural decisions in an agile

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in software development with a backend focus.
• Expertise in Java programming and Spring Boot.
• REST API design experience; SOAP is a plus.
• Proficiency in shell scripting and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle).
• Experience with ETL processes and data transformation across multiple systems.
• Ability to design scalable architectures and manage data volumes.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerization (Docker).
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and Agile/DevOps practices.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Developer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work across multiple applications and projects, contributing to the design, development, and optimization of scalable, high-performance systems. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, QA, DevOps, and other developers to deliver high-quality software.

Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on backend systems.
• Expertise in Java programming and hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
• Proven experience in REST API design and development, familiarity with SOAP web services is preferred.
• Proficiency in shell scripting and working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle).
• Experience handling large data volumes and optimizing data processing workflows.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure, network fundamentals, and system architecture
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
