Job summary

Scotiabank in Toronto, Canada seeks a senior Java/Spring developer to join a collaborative software engineering team. You will work on large-scale customer-facing platforms using REST APIs, Spring, and microservices, while leveraging APM tools such as Dynatrace and Splunk and modern CI/CD pipelines.

You will translate business needs into technical solutions, uphold software quality, and drive high performance within a dynamic environment. Strong communication and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in software development and supporting complex large-scale customer facing platforms.
• 6+ years experience as a Java developer with a preference for Java 8/Spring, web-based information technology principles, and system integration methodologies and standards.
• 6+ years of experience in building public and internal REST APIs.
• Strong experience with APM tools, such as Dynatrace, Splunk.
• Strong experience using Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Bitbucket, LaunchDarkly.

Responsibilities

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

1) 6+ years of experience in software development and supporting complex large-scale customer facing platforms

2) 6+ years experience as a Java developer with a preference for Java 8/Spring, web-based information technology principles, and system integration methodologies and standards.

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• FI / Digital banking experience is preferred but not required
• Well-rounded knowledge of Agile principles and the flexibility to adapt your experience to new and evolving environments

• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills are essential
• Excellent communication skills including ability to distil technical details into simple terms; ability to influence decision making across stakeholders
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple complex initiatives
• Natural Problem Solver - The role requires leadership skills, hands‑on technical experience, and a can‑do approach towards environment automation / management and continuous improvement for efficiency and cost effectiveness
• Must be reliable, proactive, results‑oriented, customer‑focused and attentive to details.
• Must be flexible to adapt to a dynamic environment, make quick and sound decisions under pressure
• Strong organizational skills, excellent problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills

Education:

• Bachelors or equivalent in computer science or related field is preferred
