Job summary

Cavtera is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our growing development team in Ottawa. You will lead the architecture and delivery of complex digital solutions on Palantir Foundry, balancing high-level design with hands-on development and client-facing technical leadership.

The role involves architectural ownership, mentoring other developers, and guiding the technical direction of engagements to ensure scalable, reliable, and maintainable outcomes. Travel to client sites is expected.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, Python, and SQL.
• Deep knowledge of database design, data modelling, and system integration.
• Experience designing and delivering complex production systems.
• Strong architectural judgment and ability to evaluate trade-offs for scalability and maintainability.
• Experience leading technical work across multiple developers or a project team.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with senior stakeholders.
• High degree of autonomy and comfort making consequential technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead system architecture: own the technical design of complex client engagements.
• Set the standard for data engineering: design and optimize SQL, Python, and TypeScript data models and pipelines.
• Own ontology architecture: guide design of Object Types, Links, and Actions.
• Lead cross-stack technical strategy: shape architecture of Foundry, OSDK, web, and mobile apps.
• Lead strategic discovery: work onsite with clients to identify opportunities and risks.
• Mentor other developers: code reviews and architectural guidance.
• Establish engineering standards and design patterns.
