The Position

The Senior Social Media and Content Specialist is a highly motivated and creative individual with experience and enthusiasm for connecting with current and future customers. They share First Light’s mission to increase student safety, is a champion of our divisions, products, and are excited to share our messages. They engage with our target market daily with the goal of building a large online community which ultimately leads to brand awareness and customer acquisition. The successful individual will have a strong command of the English language as they are also responsible for all written content used for marketing purposes.

How You Will Be Making An Impact

  • Support the development, deployment, and daily management of social media strategies to drive engagement and meet growth objectives.
  • Plan, create, and schedule compelling social media content aligned with brand messaging and lead generation goals.
  • Monitor social media performance, analyze key metrics (KPIs), and provide regular reporting to guide content strategy.
  • Research trends and best practices to enhance social media effectiveness and audience engagement.
  • Write and develop content for social media, industry publications, and all SMG divisions—primarily First Light Safety Products.
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment across all brand communications, including digital content and marketing materials.
  • Manage and update website content for SMG and First Light, supporting ongoing development and optimization.
  • Plan and execute targeted email marketing campaigns, including personalization and automation, to support lead generation.
  • Collaborate with external PR partners to strengthen brand visibility and communication efforts.
  • Assist in executing advertising campaigns for First Light in line with brand strategy.
  • Contribute to additional marketing projects and initiatives as assigned by management.

What Skills And Experience You Require

  • Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in social media, digital marketing, and content creation.
  • Strong copywriting skills with a focus on engaging, story-driven content.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytical.
  • Clear, professional communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with a strong work ethic, creativity, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Understanding of SEO and keyword research for social media content.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze performance metrics across social media, email campaigns and websites.
  • Proficient in using social media management and analytics tools.
  • Experienced in developing targeted content strategies with tailored messaging for segmented audiences.
  • Knowledge of photography and video editing considered an asset.
  • Must be able to travel within Canada and the U.S.
