Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. in Ontario seeks a Road Construction Senior Inspector to oversee field construction activities on MTO/municipal projects. You will monitor contract compliance, manage field paperwork, and coordinate inspections with service providers.

Eligibility includes a civil engineering credential, 4+ years' experience, and registration with OACETT or PEO. Travel across the GTA to Kingston is expected.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary credential in civil engineering or related field.
• Registration with OACETT or PEO is required.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in engineering/construction on MTO/municipal projects.
• Ontario driver's license is required; travel across GTA to Kingston.
• Proficiency with MS Office and strong communication.
• Willingness to work weekends/nights/shift as needed.

• Monitor production rates and administer contract provisions and Quality Control measures.
• Manage field paperwork and communications in the field office.

We are managing complex, large‑scale commercial projects from conceptual planning through design, construction, and occupancy. Join our construction management team to collaborate on projects that are as technically challenging as they are impactful, creative, and fulfilling.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Linear infrastructure experience required (watermain and commissioning), structural rehabilitation, fast track and large quantity concrete base construction an asset.
• Familiar with Inspection and Testing Plans an asset
• Assists with monitoring and calculation of production rates
• Assists with monitoring compliance with and administering terms of operational constraints of the contract
• Manage all paperwork and communication within the field office
• Provides a leading role in monitoring compliance to commitments of and administering construction contract provisions regarding the Contractor's Quality Control Performance Measures
• Checks and inspects construction activities, operations, and work to ensure compliance with the contract documents, drawings, and specifications
• Conducts site surveys, confirms scope of work, obtains relevant information, equipment and materials and maintains quality and payment records in a daily diary for the work completed
• Compiles field/test data in a report form for review by the Contract Administrator
• Liaise / Coordinate with service providers for specialized inspections and/or testing to ensure the tasks are completed per the terms or reference, specifications or agreement
• Obtain video / photographic records as required
• Record, review and address contractor questions and clarifications by reporting to the Contract Administrator for resolution if not already provided to the contractor
• Attend site meetings and reconnaissance on‑site
• Able to handle multiple priorities without losing focus

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Familiar with field construction activities
• Able to work on weekends, nights, shift work, additional hours as required
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Proficiency with MS Office
• Previous office administration experience working in a construction office setting an asset
• A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle
• Able to travel and work in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and east to Trenton and Kingston areas

Education and Experience

• A post‑secondary diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology / Technician or equivalent
• Minimum 4 years' experience in engineering/construction working on MTO or municipal projects.
• Registration as a Technician/Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T. or Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with PEO required

Designation as determined by OACETT as a Road Construction Senior Inspector (RCSI) or Road Construction Contract Administration (RCCA)

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
