Job summary

Strathcona Resources Ltd. seeks experienced Shift Leads/Control Room Operators to lead our Lloydminster Thermal unit plant operations, operating the DCS system to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant, optimizing production, and ensuring all processes remain within specifications.

Reporting to the Chief Power Engineer. The Shift Lead/CRO mentors and develops operators, maintains a full working knowledge of safety procedures and plant operations, and identifies opportunities to

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years SAGD operating experience (Steam Generation, Water Treatment, Oil Treating, De‑Oiling).
• 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate; consideration for 3rd Class with progression toward 2nd.
• Strong leadership with ability to develop and manage a team.
• Excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Rockwell DCS is an asset.
• Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and able to interpret facility drawings.
• Understanding SAGD Wells, Natural Gas Compressors and Utilities Systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead shift operations to maintain safe, efficient and reliable plant performance.
• Operate the DCS system and monitor plant conditions; log and report issues.
• Coach, train and develop operators; drive safety and compliance.
• Coordinate maintenance activities and liaise with multiple teams.
• Support incident reporting and HSE participation goals.
• Develop and revise operating procedures; pursue continuous improvement.
• Cross-train across operating roles and maintain competency per progression matrix.
