Job summary

BDO Canada is seeking a Senior Security Specialist to join the Information Security team in Calgary. You will lead monitoring, detection, investigation, and response to cybersecurity threats across the organization, helping protect systems, data, and digital assets.

You will mentor junior staff, contribute to playbooks, and support security assessments and compliance activities. A degree in cybersecurity or related field with 5+ years of experience is required, along with strong collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Cybersecurity, IT, CS, or engineering.
• 5+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience focused on security operations and incident response.
• Knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and best practices.
• Experience with enterprise security technologies for monitoring, detection, investigation, and response.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, investigate, and respond to cybersecurity events, alerts, and incidents across enterprise environments.
• Perform detailed analysis of security incidents, including containment, remediation coordination, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews.
• Administer and optimize security technologies that support monitoring, detection, prevention, and response.
• Conduct proactive threat and vulnerability analysis to identify risks and improve security posture.
• Collaborate with technology teams to prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities and risks.
