Senior Security Analyst (Global Security)

What is the Opportunity?
The RBC Threat Monitoring & Triage team seeks an experienced Senior Security Analyst to join its Security Operations Centre (SOC). This key role involves providing technical expertise and leadership in responding to cyber threats targeting RBC's global environment. Responsibilities include first-line investigation, triaging security detections, escalating security incidents, and maintaining awareness of emerging threats. The role collaborates with Global Cyber Security (GCS) stakeholders and RBC leadership to achieve security and resilience objectives.

Job Summary & Responsibilities:

• Respond to and investigate complex security detections across multiple environments and technologies.
• Provide 7/24 support for high severity incidents escalated from vendors, GCS partners, and the business.
• Perform technical investigation and triage activities based on potential impact and risk.
• Escalate confirmed threats to SOC management and Incident Response teams as needed.
• Develop and present technical findings on threats, attack vectors, and detection techniques.
• Monitor detection trends and alert metrics to improve security controls.
• Identify security gaps from investigations to enhance security posture.
• Partner with detection and SOAR engineers to improve monitoring and automation.
• Document and maintain Triage SOPs.
• Assist in proactive threat hunting within the environment.

Qualifications:

Must have:

• Minimum 3 years of SOC experience.
• Experience in investigation and triage of security events.
• Advanced understanding of SIEM platforms.
• Knowledge of security tools (NDR, EDR, IDS/IPS, WAF, etc.).
• Exposure to malware analysis and sandboxing.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (Cyber Kill Chain, NIST, MITRE ATT&CK).
• Strong networking and OS knowledge.
• Availability for rotating pager duty support.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with SOAR platforms.
• Threat hunting techniques and detection engineering knowledge.
• Cloud security experience.
• Scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Regex).
• Exposure to purple team activities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Certifications from ISC2, SANS, ISACA, etc.
