Job summary

BeachHead Inc. is seeking a seasoned Scala Spark Developer to lead scalable data architectures for a top financial client in Toronto.

You will design, develop, and maintain data solutions that enable large-scale data collection, storage, and insight delivery while collaborating cross-functionally on privacy and security requirements. The role demands 8–10 years of experience, deep SQL and data warehousing knowledge, and hands-on Spark/Hadoop with Scala, Python, or Java.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a relevant field.
• 8 to 10 years of overall experience in data solutions development.
• Proficiency in SQL with hands-on experience in relational and NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of data modeling and data warehousing principles.
• Experience with big data tools such as Spark, Hadoop, and related data pipeline management.
• 5+ years of Scala experience.
• Familiarity with Akka/Pekko (2-3 years).
• Programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain database architectures and large-scale processing systems.
• Collaborate with various teams to gather and prioritize data requirements.
• Design and implement data pipelines, ETL processes, and data transformation workflows.
• Ensure data security and privacy compliance across all solutions.
• Optimize data retrieval processes and develop dashboards and reports for end-users.
• Troubleshoot data issues to ensure data quality, accuracy, and integrity.
• Keep current with industry advancements and recommend system enhancements.
