Job summary

Humanoid in Vancouver seeks a Senior Control Engineer to join the Controls Team. You will design, implement and validate joint- and actuator-level controllers for high precision robotic mechanisms across the full stack from embedded control to networking and debugging tools.

The ideal candidate has control theory expertise, strong C++ skills, and comfortable working across real-time embedded control, URDF/Xacro, and ROS2-based systems with cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Control Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 5+ years in robotic or mechatronic systems.
• Shipped real-time-safe C++ control software on real hardware in production or serious research.
• Experience tuning controllers on physical actuators and sensor bring-up.
• Strong background in control theory and state estimation for multi-DoF systems.
• Experience with EtherCAT/CAN, RTOS or real-time Linux, and fieldbus debugging.

Responsibilities

• Low-level actuator- and joint-space control tuning and validation in ROS2.
• Modeling actuators, transmissions, and mechanisms for control design and simulation.
• Write real-time-safe C++ and debug multi-layer control architectures.
• Integrate sensors and hardware, calibrate, and perform hands-on bring-up.
• Collaborate with mechanical/electronics teams across sites on actuation needs.
