Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Risk Assessor to strengthen Canada-wide risk management. You will guide clients through complex challenges, deliver high-impact assessments, and mentor junior assessors.

You will apply HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, MAA and HRVA methodologies, deliver actionable reports, run workshops, and develop tools to improve risk analysis and communication. This role is open to candidates located anywhere in Canada and offers collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across the country.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in risk management, emergency management, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong foundation in risk methodologies including HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, MAA, and quantitative techniques such as fault tree and event tree analysis.
• Experience supporting HRVA development and Wildfire Strategy initiatives.
• Skilled facilitator with experience guiding groups toward shared outcomes.
• Demonstrated leadership in training, coaching, and developing others.

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical risk assessments leveraging HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, MAA, QRA, and related methodologies.
• Support the development of HRVAs and Wildfire Strategies.
• Deliver clear, actionable reports that enable clients to mitigate and manage risks effectively.
• Facilitate and coordinate engaging workshops to identify hazards, resolve challenges, and build consensus across multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor and train junior and intermediate assessors as part of their professional development journey.
• Develop and refine tools, processes, and methodologies that improve risk analysis and reporting.
• Explore innovative approaches—including natural-language-driven insights—to enhance how risk information is generated and communicated.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contributing to WSP’s reputation for reliability, expertise, and excellence.
