Job summary

Huawei Canada is seeking a Senior Researcher to define and advance research in computer vision and human-centered AI. You will build real-time vision pipelines and contribute to product-ready prototypes.

Ideal candidates hold a PhD or master’s with substantial R&D, with 5+ years in CV or robotics, and evidence of impact through shipped work, patents, or publications. Strong Python/C++ and experience with LLMs/VLMs and optimization are valued.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent with substantial R&D in CV/AI
• Strong background in computer vision, spatial computing, robotics or intelligent devices
• Proven track record in research-to-product delivery, incl. prototypes or patents

Responsibilities

• Define and advance research directions in computer vision, spatial perception, and human-centered AI.
• Develop algorithms for 2D/3D scene understanding, tracking, hand and gesture recognition, depth estimation, and real-time reconstruction.
• Develop efficient small-model pipelines for real-time detection, tracking, temporal modeling, and interaction-state recognition.
• Integrate vision models with lightweight perception components to enable spatial reasoning and agentic workflows.
• Optimize end-to-end vision systems for accuracy, latency, power, memory, and hardware constraints.
• Establish datasets, evaluation frameworks, and success metrics for milestones.
• Build high-quality prototypes, support product integration, and mentor teammates
