Job summary

Huawei Canada is seeking a Researcher to advance AI and computer vision, publishing in top venues and delivering real-world Huawei product enhancements. You will work closely with fellow researchers, engineers, and interns to translate ideas into research prototypes quickly.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD or Master’s in CS with a CV/ML focus, with strong Python/TensorFlow/PyTorch skills and a track record of industry-relevant research. Prior lab or tech company experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• PhD or master's in computer science or related fields with a focus on computer vision and machine learning.
• Papers at conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, IJCAI, etc.
• Hands-on experience in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc. and translating ideas into research prototypes quickly.
• Industry research labs or technology company experience is an asset.
• Experience in training large-scale video generation/editing models, video world models, or 3D generation models is an asset.

• Invent state-of-the-art AI and computer vision algorithms to be published in top AI/CV conferences.
• Design and implement AI/CV solutions to real-world problems and land them in Huawei products.
• Supervise intern students in R&D projects.

About the team:

Founded in 2012, the Noah’s Ark lab has evolved into a prominent research organization with notable achievements in academia and industry. The lab’s mission focuses on advancing artificial intelligence and related fields to benefit the company and society. Driven by impactful, long-term projects, the aim is to enhance state-of-the-art research while integrating innovations into the company's products and services, including LLMs, RL, NLP, computer vision, AI theory, and Autonomous driving.

Responsibilities

• Working closely with other research scientists, research engineers, and research interns, you will:

• Invent state-of-the-art AI and computer vision algorithms to be published in top AI/CV conferences.
• Design and implement AI/CV solutions to real-world problems, and land them in various Huawei products.
• Supervise intern students in R&D projects.

The total target annual compensation for this position ranges from $106,000 to $156,000 depending on education, experience, and demonstrated expertise.

About the ideal candidate:
