Job summary

The Select Group is seeking an experienced RAN Engineer to join a national Wireless Network Performance team, focusing on 4G/5G optimization and Open RAN initiatives from a remote Canada-based role.

You will monitor RAN performance KPIs, troubleshoot degradations, conduct root-cause analysis, and collaborate with support teams to ensure seamless mobility and service reliability across networks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 5+ years of RAN performance engineering or optimization experience.
  • Strong 4G/5G RAN expertise including NSA/SA, VoLTE and VoNR.
  • Hands-on Samsung RAN equipment experience.
  • Proficient with OSS and call-trace tools such as Netscout or ActixOne.
  • Solid understanding of network KPIs and end-to-end service behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Support the launch and optimization of emerging wireless technologies including Open RAN from a performance management perspective.
  • Monitor and manage RAN performance KPIs, ensuring targets are met and continuously improved.
  • Troubleshoot service degradations, perform root-cause analysis, and develop preventive measures to minimize customer impact.
  • Assist client support and escalation teams on complex issues requiring RAN engineering expertise.
  • Lead performance monitoring and optimization for high-demand special events.
  • Design and support automation initiatives to increase operational efficiency and scale optimization activities.

Sr. RAN Engineer- Remote, Canada

The Select Group is seeking an experienced RAN Engineer to join a national Wireless Network Performance team. You'll play a key role in optimizing 4G/5G networks, supporting major performance initiatives, and enabling next-generation technologies such as Open RAN.

What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Telecom, Computer, or related field).
  • 5+ years of experience in RAN performance engineering or optimization within a telecom operator or vendor environment.
  • Strong expertise across 4G and 5G RAN performance, including NSA/SA, VoLTE, VoNR, mobility, signaling analysis, parameter audits, traffic balancing, and SON features.
  • Hands-on experience with Samsung RAN equipment: parameters, features, capabilities, and limitations.
  • Proficiency with OSS and call-trace tools such as Netscout, ActixOne, or similar platforms.
  • Solid understanding of network KPIs, troubleshooting flows, and end-to-end service behavior.
Bonus Experience
  • Master's degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Familiarity with data science and machine learning techniques - especially anomaly detection and model-driven optimization.
  • Experience with crowdsourced data platforms, Netscout analytics, or similar network intelligence tools.
  • Data science skills including scripting, statistical analysis, ML pipelines, and automation frameworks.
