Job summary

Hitachi Rail Canada Inc. seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead hardware design for railway products, applying rigorous engineering principles to develop reliable electrical systems and mentor junior engineers.

You will collaborate across disciplines, prepare specifications, review standards, and ensure safety, quality, and cost efficiency while supporting bids and project schedules. A master’s degree and PEO certification are preferred.

Qualifications

6+ years of experience in the industry, including cabling and grounding techniques.
Strong grasp of Electrical Engineering Principles, including power circuits and electronic circuits with microprocessors.
Proficiency with engineering tools such as CAD systems (AutoCAD), multimeters, oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of diplomas and work experience.
PEO certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

Design new or revised hardware for railway equipment and installations.
Maintain the quality and integrity of hardware designs and related documentation.
Prepare specifications for hardware and software components.
Develop design architecture and implement designs using established engineering principles.
Review standards and ensure safety, quality and cost efficiency.
Mentor junior team members and contribute to a harmonious team environment.
Provide accurate estimates and support bids with technical solutions.
