Job summary

Photonic Inc. invites you to join the Quantum Systems Integration team to define, create, and execute tests on Photonic’s quantum computers.

You will design, develop, and maintain automated test suites, interfacing with distributed quantum hardware and iterating on improvements across hardware and software, while collaborating with scientists, engineers, and business units. You will apply algorithm development knowledge, Python coding, and strong communication to tackle challenges as we build a

Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in quantum information, physics, or equivalent; 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience running jobs on quantum hardware on any scaled platform (superconducting, neutral atom, ion trap, defect-based, spins, photonic).
  • Excellent coding skills, and ability to work in shared code repositories, preferably Python.
  • Experience handling and controlling highly sensitive and complex lab instrumentation.
  • Experience implementing automation of measurements and report generation.
  • Systems engineering approach to solving problems in an ambiguous environment.
  • Excellent analytical and debugging skills; ability to chase down hard problems.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and simply.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively solve problems, prioritize, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Outstanding teamwork and communication skills to interface with many disciplines.

Responsibilities

Job description

Compensation: The base annual salary range for this full‑time role is between $138,200 and $190,100. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salary across all Canadian locations. Actual compensation may vary outside of this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s qualifications, relevant education and training, competencies, experience, geographic location, and business needs. Base pay is only one part of the total compensation package. Full‑time roles are eligible for equity and benefits. Base pay is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Senior Quantum Systems Test Engineer

Photonic’s Quantum Systems Integration team invites you to define, create, and execute tests on Photonic’s quantum computers. Your expertise in understanding how to test complex systems and report critical metrics is essential for the development of quantum computers that provide commercial value. You will influence directly how Photonic’s fault‑tolerant utility‑scale distributed quantum computer is used and operated. You will work closely with scientists, product engineers, and business units on a range of topics, learning new technology and science while using your algorithm development knowledge, open mind, and creativity to tackle key challenges as we build the world’s first truly scalable quantum computing system.
