Job summary

Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join the ASTI framework in Scotland. You will lead quality management, monitor KPIs, and ensure compliance with customer and industry standards.

You will coach delivery teams, run audits, drive continual improvement, and implement robust corrective actions, contributing to major projects and the firm's quality leadership.

Qualifications

• Quality management experience within construction or civil/infrastructure projects.
• Ability to implement quality management methodologies, tools and applications.
• Lead Auditor training in ISO 9001 is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME to project and work-winning teams to implement effective quality management.
• Monitor, analyse and report quality performance against KPIs; communicate risks and opportunities.
• Ensure customer and standards requirements are understood; establish QC mechanisms and assurance.
• Coach and advise delivery teams in using digital quality systems and managing issues.
• Maintain local quality processes aligned with strategic objectives and QMS.
• Lead local and supplier audits; support BB and external certification audits.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to hand over project quality documentation.
• Implement quality development and training programmes for teams and local resources.
• Encourage sharing of good practice and continual improvement.
• Contribute to Management Review processes and action delivery.
• Investigate high-risk quality issues and ensure robust CAPA actions.
• Drive continual improvement actions to meet strategic quality objectives.

What you'll be doing

• Provide subject matter expertise to project and work winning teams to facilitate the implementation of effective quality management processes.
• Monitor, analyse and report Quality performance relating to agreed business or project KPIs, communicating risks and opportunities.
• Ensure the customer and other standards’ requirements are clearly understood and that quality control mechanisms are in place that provide assurance that the asset and/or service delivers as designed/required.
• Coach and advise delivery teams in using the appropriate digital quality and governance systems, and managing issues as required.
• Maintain local quality processes as part of the Quality management system, ensuring processes remain effective, compliant, and aligned with strategic objectives.
• Lead local and supplier audits in line with programme objectives, and support with BB and external certification audits.
• Coordinate with others to produce and handover project and/or business quality
• Implement quality development and training programmes for business / project teams and local quality resources.
• Encourage the sharing of good practice and learning to embed continual improvement.
• Contribute to the implementation of Management Review(s) and delivery of agreed actions.
• Undertake investigations of high-risk quality-related issues as required, ensuring robust corrective and preventive actions are identified.
• Implement continual improvement actions to support the delivery of quality-related strategic objectives as directed by local or senior leadership.

Ability to challenge existing methods and ways of thinking.

Awareness of information management and change management principles.
