Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred) or related discipline.
  • 5–7 years' experience in Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance.
  • Experience in the lighting or electrical industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, Root Cause Analysis, 8D and FMEA; Lean/Six Sigma assets.
  • SAP experience and Power BI knowledge are assets.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills; travel up to 20%.

  • Lead the Canadian Quality function, overseeing customer quality, warranty management, and supplier quality.
  • Coordinate regulatory compliance activities including product certifications and audits.
  • Drive ISO quality systems, internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Supply Chain and Product teams to resolve customer quality issues.
  • Support warranty accruals, reporting, and commercial reviews with Finance.
  • Mentor the Quality Technician and partner with internal teams on MTO projects.

Job description

As LEDVANCE Canada continues its transition away from shared US services, the Quality function reports to the Director of Financial Operations – Canada, who has responsibility for Quality, Supply Chain governance and business process compliance.

The Quality Engineer leads the Canadian Quality function and is responsible for customer quality, warranty management, supplier quality, regulatory compliance, product certification, ISO quality systems, internal audits and continuous improvement.

Working closely with Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing and global Quality teams, this position ensures customer issues are resolved efficiently while protecting the commercial and regulatory interests of LEDVANCE Canada.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Quality & Warranty (40%)
  • Manage all Canadian warranty claims from receipt through final resolution.
  • Investigate product failures, determine root causes and coordinate corrective actions with manufacturing plants and suppliers.
  • Perform technical evaluations and respond to customer technical enquiries.
  • Support customer site investigations where required.
  • Administer the WRS warranty system and Power BI reporting.
  • Monitor warranty trends, claim costs and quality metrics.
  • Manage claims within established warranty policies and approval limits.
Supplier & Product Quality (25%)
  • Work with manufacturing plants and suppliers to resolve quality issues and lead supplier quality escalations.
  • Review supplier corrective actions (8D) and monitor recurring quality trends.
  • Conduct product and warehouse inspections.
  • Coordinate product testing and containment activities.Manage the quality approval process for Made-to-Order (MTO) and customer-configured products, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, product standards and regulatory requirements prior to shipment.
  • Recommend product and manufacturing process improvements through root cause analysis.
Regulatory Compliance (20%)
  • Coordinate Canadian product certifications (CSA, UL, ETL, DLC, Energy Star, DOE and NRCan).
  • Support new product introductions and customer-specific testing requirements.
  • Coordinate external laboratory testing and annual certification renewals.
  • Maintain certification records and liaise with Regulatory Affairs and Product Management.
Quality Systems (15%)
  • Lead ISO 9001 activities within Canada.Support ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Coordinate internal quality audits.
  • Prepare for external audits.
  • Maintain quality documentation.
  • Track audit actions through completion.
  • Support Management Reviews.
Business Support
  • Partner with Sales, Finance and Supply Chain to resolve customer quality issues.
  • Support warranty approvals, recalls, inventory quality holds and product launches.
  • Prepare Quality KPI reporting and monthly management reports.
  • Support Finance with warranty accruals, reporting and commercial claim reviews.
  • Provide technical support to Sales and Product Management for customer-specific MTO projects, product modifications and special application requirements.
  • Support and mentor the Quality Technician.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred), Quality, Manufacturing or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance.
  • Experience in the lighting or electrical industry strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, Root Cause Analysis, 8D and FMEA. Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies would be considered an asset.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Experience with Power BI would be an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to travel throughout Canada and occasionally internationally (approximately 20%).
