Job summary

Nautel Limited in Nova Scotia is seeking a Quality Assurance Leader to drive day-to-day QA activities for our electronic products. You will support the ISO9001 Quality Management System and lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and cross-functional projects.

The role requires hands-on operations experience with ISO environments, strong documentation skills, and the ability to train staff on QA requirements. Background checks and clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day activities for products and support the Quality Management System per ISO9001 requirements.
• Act as QA point of contact for projects and deliverables.
• Develop and implement QA deliverables (plans, presentations, reports, analyses).
• Define and implement supplier quality requirements and supplier development milestones.
• Train staff on contract quality assurance requirements.
• Lead failure analysis and root cause investigations; implement corrective actions.
• Maintain records, analyze data, and report trends.
• Coordinate across all levels and functions within the organization.
• Support ISO9001 system maintenance and internal audits.

Job description

Are you interested in electronics? Do you have an eye for detail and a desire to get to the bottom of a problem? Do you like the idea of working across the organization? The role we are looking to fill reports to the Quality Manager, Nautel Limited, and is responsible for leading the day-to-day activities for our products and supporting the Quality Management System as per ISO9001 requirements.

The successful candidate can look forward to a variety of challenges including:

• Leading project quality assurance activities and be the QA point of contact;
• Developing and implementing quality assurance deliverables (plans, presentations, reports, analyses);
• Defining and implementing contract specific supplier quality requirements, supplier approval, development, milestones and monitoring;
• Training relevant staff to specific contract quality assurance requirements;
• Leading failure analysis and root cause investigation (internal and external), as well as developing and implementing corrective and preventative actions;
• Maintaining records, analysis of pertinent data and reporting on trends;
• Interaction and coordination at all levels, and across all functions;
• Maintenance of Nautel's ISO9001 Quality Management System by supporting day-to-day Production Operations and auditing of policies, procedures, methods and activities;
• Use of internal tools for reporting, analysis and record-keeping;
• Document writing supporting all of the above.

Qualifications

• Ideally, 3-5 Years + Experience in hands-on role in Operations, combined with Quality experience/focus, as well as an understanding of the ISO environment;
• Ability to learn technical aspects of our product, to the component level;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Experience in writing analysis, audit and investigation reports;
• Ability to work across all functions in a hands-on, as well as leading activities where necessary;
• Ability to work well within a team, as well as independently;
• Strong data driven problem solving and analytical skills;
• Prior experience with ISO9001 quality systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Prior experience of problem solving and root cause analysis methodologies, six sigma techniques, calibration, document control and configuration management would be an asset;
• Strong Microsoft Office skills;
• Project management and planning skills;
• A technical qualification, experience or interest would be an advantage in this role;
• Due to the nature of the role, successful applicants must be eligible to meet requirements for immediate clearance in Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and Canadian Industrial Security Clearance (Canadian Citizenship/PR). Background checks will be undertaken.
