Job summary

WestJet Group is seeking a Senior QA Analyst to join our IT Unified Communications Team. You will oversee requirements analysis, test design, automation, and defect management for guest communications channels and contact centre platforms.

This role requires collaboration with product, delivery, and business teams and in-person work up to five days a week. Responsibilities include designing test plans, executing tests across UI, API and database interfaces, and driving automation opportunities

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience as a Senior QA Analyst or similar
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related field
• Experience in Agile development methodologies and Agile teams
• Strong expertise in UI test automation (Robot, Selenium, Appium) and API test automation (Postman, SoapUI)
• Experience with AI platforms and telecom technologies is an asset
• Proficiency with SQL and understanding of message queues for data validation
• Solid understanding of software testing principles and agile practices
• Strong communication and presentation skills

Overview of role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst to join our IT Unified Communications Team which focuses on the delivery and operational maintenance of various guest communications channels and contact centre platforms. As a Senior QA / Test Automation Analyst on this team, you will oversee and participate in requirements analysis, test case development, test case automation, execution of tests, defect management and other Software Testing Lifecycle related activities.

An important part of this role will be recommending improvement opportunities and relationship building with both the delivery, product and business teams. A strong-willed but cooperative approach is a must for this role.

This position requires in-person collaboration up to five days a week. This arrangement is subject to change based on business requirement.

Key deliverables include:

• Perform end-to-end testing of our communication platforms including agentic AI platforms delivering conversational voice and web messaging applications and multiple telecommunications platforms covering various functional areas and business scenarios.
• Identify test cases for automation, write, maintain and execute automated tests
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including product managers, product owners and developers, to understand requirements and define test objectives and strategies.
• Design and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate platform functionality and ensure adherence to business and technical requirements.
• Utilize various interfaces such as UI tools, API’s and databases for test execution.
• Collaborate with other teams utilizing the same platform and share in reviewing respective testing approaches.
• Identify, log, and track defects and issues, and work closely with the development team to investigate and resolve them in a timely manner.
• Continuously assess and improve the manual testing process, methodologies, and techniques to optimize test coverage and effectiveness.
• Collaborate with the development team to gain an in-depth understanding of the platform architecture and data flow for effective testing.
• Analyze test results and provide comprehensive test reports to stakeholders, highlighting any risks, issues, or areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with other team members to share knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned from testing activities.
• Proactively identify areas within the testing process that can be automated, including test data generation, repetitive test cases, and regression testing.
• Work closely with the test automation team to explore and implement automation solutions for identified test automation opportunities.
• Stay up to date with emerging trends, tools, and techniques in software testing, particularly in test automation, and propose their adoption when appropriate.

Experience and qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience as a Senior QA Analyst or in a similar role.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in Agile development methodologies and working within Agile teams.
• Strong expertise in UI test automation frameworks and tools, such as Robot, Selenium, and Appium. Proficiency in API test automation frameworks and tools, such as Postman, or SoapUI.
• Experience with AI platforms and applications along with Genesys, Service Now or telecommunications technologies is an asset.
• Proficiency with writing database queries in SQL and working with Message Queues to perform validations.
• Solid understanding of software development methodologies, testing principles, and agile practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and provide practical solutions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of airline domain and entities in and surrounding the airline industry.
