PCL Calgary is seeking an experienced Senior Proposal Specialist to lead the development of high-quality proposals that effectively communicate our value proposition and align with client requirements. As the ideal candidate, you have a strong background in proposal management, technical writing, strategic content development and design. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and compelling submissions that enhance our business growth. You’ll work as part of a team of proposal, marketing and communications professionals.

Here's how a Senior Proposals Specialist for our Calgary office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

• Oversee the proposal planning process, including reviewing client requirements through RFPs and RFQs, developing a proposal responsibility matrix and content outline, creating timelines and assignments and determining strategic approaches.
• Lead the entire proposal process, from kick-off to submission, ensuring effective schedule management, content development, reviews and quality assurance.
• Organize and facilitate proposal kick-offs, check-ins and workshops as needed.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and leadership to craft persuasive, customized proposal content, ensuring tailored messaging for clients, clear differentiators, and engagement.
• Develop new proposal narratives and draft customized content as needed.
• Proofread, edit, and rewrite text to ensure a high-quality, compliant, error-free submission. Maintain a consistent tone and unified messaging throughout the document.
• Create compelling visuals, infographics and layouts that enhance proposal presentation.
• Assist in preparing teams for client presentations, interviews and proposal discussions.
• Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activity and advancements in proposal development practices.
• Identify ways to improve efficiency in the proposal process through automation, AI tools and database management.

Qualifications

• Postsecondary degree or diploma in business, marketing, communications, English, journalism or a related field.
• At least 7 years of progressive experience in a proposal-focused role.
• Expertise in proposal best practices, including Shipley or APMP methodologies (certification preferred).
• Advanced business acumen, with thorough knowledge of industry practices and new developments (construction process, delivery models, contract types).
• Exceptional project management, organizational and time management abilities, ensuring the effective prioritization and scheduling of tasks.
• Proven ability to manage multiple proposals simultaneously, contribute to win strategies and write portions of proposals.
• Advanced communication skills—verbal, written and visual—with the ability to create grammatically sound, customized technical content optimized for readability and client focus.
• Outstanding collaboration skills, with a talent for guiding teams toward achieving successful results.
• Superior proficiency in InDesign and the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), with the ability to create brand-compliant visual content.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
