When you join CIMA+, we welcome you to a place that you can call home.

Job Description

The CIMA+ Western Canada region is experiencing significant growth and to support this momentum, we are seeking a Senior Proposal Advisor with a strong marketing communications background to join our Regional Pursuits team.

In this role, you will lead and shape strategic proposals from start to finish, partnering closely with technical leaders, project managers, and senior leadership. You will be accountable not only for compliance and coordination, but for storytelling, positioning, and differentiation — bringing clarity and focus to why CIMA+ is the firm of choice.

This role is well suited to someone who brings confidence, sound judgment, and creativity to complex proposal environments, and who is comfortable working in fast-paced, deadline-driven pursuits.

Primary responsibilities
  • Lead high-value proposals of varying complexity, including large, multidisciplinary pursuits.
  • Develop and guide strategic response plans that identify CIMA+’s key strengths, win themes, and differentiators for each pursuit.
  • Coordinate and participate in Go/No-Go meetings, capture planning sessions, and proposal debriefs, applying lessons learned to future submissions.
  • Review proposals against evaluation criteria to strengthen positioning, clarity, and overall competitiveness.
Marketing Communications & Content Development
  • Write, edit, and refine non-technical proposal content so submissions read clearly, persuasively, and with a consistent voice.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into accessible language tailored to the client, project context, and evaluation criteria.
  • Develop original content where required, working collaboratively with subject matter experts to balance technical accuracy with strong messaging.
  • Integrate win themes consistently across written content, graphics, and interview materials.
Visual Storytelling & Design Oversight
  • Conceptualize and integrate graphics, layouts, and infographics that reinforce proposal messaging.
  • Provide design direction and oversight for custom proposal templates and layouts, with a clear vision for the final product.
  • Maintain a high standard of document quality, presentation, and visual cohesion using tools such as Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe InDesign.
Collaboration, Mentorship & Process
  • Partner closely with internal clients, senior management, and subject matter experts to manage inputs, timelines, and priorities.
  • Train and support junior proposal staff assigned to pursuits, providing practical guidance, review, and feedback.
  • Support onboarding of new subject matter experts into the proposal process.
  • Maintain proposal records, CRM updates, and documented debrief feedback to support continuous improvement across the team.
Qualifications
  • University degree or college diploma in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, Business, or a related field.
  • Typically 8–12 years of experience in proposals, marketing communications, or business development within a consulting, engineering, or professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated strength in strategic writing, editing, and storytelling, with the ability to produce submissions that read as a single, cohesive voice.
  • Proven ability to manage complex pursuits with multiple stakeholders and overlapping deadlines.
  • Strong judgment, initiative, and comfort working independently while navigating ambiguity.
  • Advanced document formatting and design skills using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign required; Illustrator and Photoshop assets).
  • Exceptional attention to detail paired with an understanding of overall strategy and message.
Assets
  • Experience supporting proposal interviews and presentation development.
  • Familiarity with engineering or technical consulting environments.
  • Strong understanding of RFx types and evaluation methodologies.
  • A portfolio or work samples demonstrating writing quality, structure, and visual communication.
  • Proficiency in French, both spoken and written.
