Senior Property Accountant

Downtown Toronto (4 days a week in office)

Salary between $80k - $100k plus discretionary bonus and great benefits

Our client is looking for a Senior Property Accountant to help build out the new property accounting division within the team. It’s an incredibly unique, career building opportunity where you will be the one to set the tone for the department, implement new processes, and pave the way for their future success.

Responsibilities :

• Responsible for full cycle property accounting for a dedicated portfolio of properties which includes both commercial and residential i.e., month end entries, bank reconciliations, chargebacks, invoice review and approvals, tenant billings, etc.
• Manage the incoming and outgoing tenant process, as well as their ledgers
• Oversee the operating budgets and forecasting for portfolio
• Prepare annual audit file and answer inquiries related to the portfolio
• Prepare HST reconciliations and related remittances
• Prepare quarterly financial statements for reporting purposes
• Support the implementation of ongoing accounting system changes and other process improvements
• Answer accounting queries from tenants and property management
• Participate in special projects and take on other duties, as assigned

Qualifications :

• Minimum 3 years of Property Accounting experience
• Well versed in the entire picture and process of residential accounting is an asset
• University degree and professional designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) or enrolment in such a program is required
• Deep understanding of Yardi’s Residential Modules is a must
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks and work well under pressure
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Self-motivated with a high degree of integrity, honesty and ethics
• Dedicated team player with a positive attitude and the flexibility to get the job done.
