Job summary

SANEXEN is seeking a Senior Environmental Project Manager to lead site characterization and remediation projects across Québec and Canada. You will bridge strategic planning and field execution, coordinating professionals, field staff, and subcontractors to deliver with technical excellence and rigour.

Based in Brossard or Québec offices, you will collaborate with Project Directors and field teams, fostering a professional, safe, and collaborative culture where excellence is valued.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in project management for characterization and rehabilitation of contaminated sites.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse projects and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication in French (oral and written) with English proficiency (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate full project team to ensure alignment with kickoff objectives.
  • Lead site visits for project startup and field mobilization.
  • Oversee financials, HSE, production and quality, and take corrective actions.
  • Monitor costs and revenues; participate in billing.
  • Identify and document changes to contract scope and obtain approvals.
  • Champion HSE programs across assigned projects.
  • Prepare reports and deliverables for client issuance.

Job description

Sanexen is seeking Senior Project Managers to strengthen its environmental team.

We are looking for candidates who combine strong expertise in environmental consulting (Phase I and II ESA, soil, groundwater and residual materials characterization, remediation plans, and environmental monitoring) or hands‑on entrepreneurial experience, including the execution of large-scale remediation projects, water treatment operations, and in‑situ rehabilitation. Successful candidates will be based in either our Brossard or Québec offices.

Job Description

As a Senior Environmental Project Manager, you will play a central role in leading stimulating and diverse projects across Québec and throughout Canada. Acting as a true bridge between strategic planning and operational execution, you will ensure that each project—primarily focused on site characterization and remediation—is delivered with technical excellence and unwavering rigor. You will serve as a key link between Project Directors and field teams, while actively contributing to a professional, safe, and collaborative work culture where people genuinely enjoy working

Main responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Coordinate the full project team (professionals, field staff, subcontractors and suppliers) to ensure that all work is completed in alignment with the objectives established at project kickoff.
  • Project Startup & Field Presence: Play an active role in launching projects through site visits, ensuring a concrete understanding of field conditions and an effective mobilization of the team from the very start.
  • Project Management: Oversee financials, HSE, production and quality performance, and take swift corrective action whenever deviations arise.
  • Rigorous Financial Oversight: Monitor project costs and revenues, and participate in the billing process.
  • Risk & Quality Management — Identify, document and implement risk controls from the proposal stage onward, apply quality plans and ensure compliance with internal procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Health & Safety Management: Implement and champion the HSE program across all assigned projects.
  • Communication & Coordination: Support smooth information flow among all team members, keep the Project Director informed of progress, and act as a liaison with the client as needed. Prepare reports and deliverables for client issuance in accordance with Sanexen’s quality standards.
  • Change Management: Identify and document any changes to the contract scope (client or subcontractor), initiate approval procedures and inform relevant stakeholders.
  • Feedback & Continuous Improvement: Lead regular project follow‑up meetings, contribute to end‑of‑project reviews to capture lessons learned, and help enhance best practices within the business unit.

Qualifications required

Sought Profile

  • Experience: At least 8 years of experience in project management related to the characterization and rehabilitation of contaminated sites.
  • Education: University degree in Engineering, Geology, Environment, or a related field.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Possess an excellent understanding of all applicable regulations
  • Communication: Excellent mastery of French (oral and written) and proficiency in English (preferred).
  • Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal communication skills and a proven ability for teamwork.
