Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a Senior Project Manager for a major railway infrastructure programme in Canada. You will lead due diligence, coordinate design and construction activities, and drive delivery in a live rail environment across multiple teams.

The role requires 10+ years in infrastructure, a Civil Engineering degree, and proven leadership of large, multi-disciplinary groups; you will manage budgets, schedules, safety, and stakeholder communications for complex rail projects.

  • 10+ years of relevant infrastructure experience.
  • Experience for General Contractor in major projects.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary and multi-generational teams.
  • Experience coordinating investigations, design development, and construction execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead due diligence and investigation activities supporting design, construction, and delivery.
  • Interface between investigation teams, designers, construction teams, and clients.
  • Provide senior leadership across a large multi-disciplinary organization.
  • Manage a diverse team of up to 50 individuals.
  • Bring structure, foresight, and accountability to complex investigation scopes in a live railway environment.
  • Demonstrate and promote a strong Health & Safety culture.
  • Provide leadership in quality management, ensuring investigation deliverables meet project requirements.
  • Apply Project Controls principles, including cost management, forecasting, scheduling.
  • Bring practical construction and civil infrastructure experience to field operations and project execution.

A major Multinational organisation specialising in the construction of Rail and Highway Infrastructure Mega Projects is looking for their new Senior Project Manager to be involved in the construction of one of Canada's largest Rail projects.

The organisation is a major multinational General Contractor specialising in the construction of major Highway, bridge and Rail Infrastructure projects.

Description
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinates Due Diligence and Investigation activities that support & enable design, construction, and overall project delivery.
  • Act as a key interface between investigation teams, designers, construction teams, and the client.
  • Provides senior leadership across a large, multi-disciplinary organization consisting of office-based and field teams.
  • Management of a diverse team of up to 50 individuals.
  • Bring structure, foresight, and accountability to complex investigation scopes in a live railway environment.
  • Demonstrates and promotes a strong Health & Safety culture.
  • Provide leadership in quality management, ensuring investigation deliverables meet project requirements, support constructability, and enable informed decision-making.
  • Apply Project Controls principles, including cost management, forecasting, scheduling etc
  • Bring practical construction and civil infrastructure experience, with a strong understanding of field operations, construction sequencing, construction readiness, access constraints, and project execution within active railway environments.
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders across multiple levels and functions, with strong judgement in tailoring messaging
  • Supports a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team culture.

Profile
Key Skills & Experience
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in major infrastructure projects including Rail, Highway, Bridge etc.
  • Experience working for General Contractor in major infrastructure projects
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Proven experience leading and coordinating Due Diligence and Investigation activities such as geotechnical, utilities, structural, and corridor-related investigations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary and multi-generational teams in complex project environments.
  • Strong understanding of the interfaces between investigations, design development, and construction execution.
  • Experience reviewing investigation scopes, methodologies, reports, and deliverables to ensure technical quality and constructability.
  • Ability to develop and manage investigation schedules in coordination with project planning teams.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and controlling investigation budgets, estimates, variations, and change management processes.
  • Experience working under pressure, managing multiple priorities, and meeting project deadlines.
  • Experience supporting or delivering civil infrastructure works.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with planning tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project is considered an asset.
