KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Identify design criteria, plan, and execute effective designs focused on exceeding client expectations.
2. Provide direct client interface and lead plan processing at public agencies.
3. Engage in marketing, business development, lead finding, and pursuit of new work. MUST HAVE A BOOK OF BUSINESS TO BRING ALONG
4. Handle admin and finance tasks such as invoicing, budget monitoring, proposals, change orders, timecard approvals for team, and attendance at required meetings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned:

• Develop schedules and supervise workflow coordination of the design team with the Sr. Project Manager.
• Supervise plan preparation, technical reports, cost estimates, and other client deliverables, ensuring high quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with standards.
• Supervise or directly contact agencies, oversee plan processing for approval, resolve design issues, and ensure compliance with agency requirements.
• Coordinate with outside consultants (geotechnical, landscape, plumbing, architect, etc.) and internal departments (survey, mapping, water quality, etc.), initiating project phase meetings as needed.
• Conduct site investigations and research for proposals, designs, and marketing materials.
• Visit sites during construction to check plan conformity, resolve discrepancies, and respond to RFI’s.
• Forecast workload to ensure proper team utilization and communicate resource needs to the Sr. Project Manager.
• Conduct staff reviews, provide coaching and training.
• Ensure proper charging of time to projects and timely submission of employee timecards.
• Track project budgets, provide billing instructions, and handle change order requests as needed.
• Promote new ideas and procedures incorporating Full Circle Thinking.
• Represent the company in meetings with clients and agencies.
• Attend seminars and classes, providing written evaluations and key takeaways for implementation.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise 1-5 employees within the Engineering Team in coordination with the Principal or Sr. Project Manager, following organizational policies and laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning work, performance appraisals, rewards, discipline, and resolving issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following are required:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering or related field, with at least ten years of civil engineering design experience, including a minimum of 3 years as the central design figure and experience mentoring and overseeing project workflows. EIT certification is required; PE license or ability to obtain within two years is necessary. Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D is expected.
