Description

Our Substations & Renewables group is currently looking to add a Senior Project Manager to the Substation Construction Services team, based in Vaughan, ON.

Reporting to the VP, Substation and Renewables, theSenior Project Managerwill take on a leadership role for the group and ensure the safe, efficient, and complete execution of substation and renewable enginerring, procurement and construction projects from project initiation and estimating through execution to final closeout. The position will manage larger projects in the $100 - $250 million range, with an initial focus on projects across Ontario and Eastern Canada.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish resource requirements and lead the planning and implementation of projects
  • Coordinate with customer to determine timelines and reporting requirements
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Provide input / review estimate requirements with Estimating Team
  • Assist in submittal of proposals, such as writing deliverables, pricing review, scheduling, etc.
  • Work with Construction Supervisors / Managers to oversee the detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Successfully manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
  • Work with Construction Supervisors and all other team members to ensure the successful execution of project (provide direction and support to project team)
  • Monitor Progress on projects (Costs, Forecasting, Quality, Scope) and Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Prepare and submit weekly reports and monthly progress invoices
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Oversee final packages for submittal to customer and Final Invoice
  • Identify final scope and cost / revenue on the project
  • Project evaluations and assessment of results
  • Ensure that project resources are working safely at all times
  • Travel across Canada for stakeholder meetings, buisness development and site visits


Requirements
  • Post-Secondary Education in a related field (Engineering, Commerce, Construction Management)
  • 10+ years of related Project Management experience in Construction
  • Demonstrated experience leading large scale projects in a related industry (electrical, BESS, solar, wind, nuclear, oil & gas, etc.)
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education / experience may be considered
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams to consistently meet project goals, prioritizing both safety and operational efficiency
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to delegate tasks as needed
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), or working towards certification
  • Proven experience with Project Management concepts, principles and tools (Microsoft Project, Primavera P6 Scheduling and JD Edwards)
  • Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio

Preferred Skills / Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with High Voltage Construction
  • Proven Ability to Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • EIT / P.Eng. or other professional designation
  • Proven strong negotiation skills
