The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is responsible for the stewardship of the Port of Vancouver, Canada’s largest and most diversified port. The Senior Project Manager oversees the delivery of multiple complex projects through all phases of their lifecycle, leading cross-functional teams, coordinating resources, and ensuring stakeholder communication. The role focuses on large projects but may also guide colleagues on smaller projects.

What you do:

Working under a matrix organizational model, your responsibilities may vary depending on specific project requirements.

Planning & Scope Definition

• Develop workstream or project plans aligned with organizational frameworks.
• Lead meetings and workshops to specify and agree on project deliverables.
• Coordinate requirements gathering, analysis, documentation, and verification.

Resource Management

• Lead deployment of resources, manage costs, and forecast budgets.
• Establish and monitor work schedules to meet expectations within timelines.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Plan and execute stakeholder engagement activities.
• Lead small project teams, communicate outcomes, and build team capacity through coaching and mentoring.

Procurement & Contract Management

• Lead procurement processes, develop RFPs, and manage vendor performance.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and issues.

Monitoring & Reporting

• Draft review reports and presentations for stakeholder evaluation.
• Gather and summarize data for reports.

Quality Control

• Conduct project closeout, document handover, and lessons learned.
• Facilitate assurance reviews and address issues to uphold project standards.

What you bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline, plus at least five years of experience managing complex projects.
• Relevant project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PgMP, Agile).
• Proficiency in project management tools like MS Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary and cross-departmental projects preferred.
