This is a 12 month independent contract role.
We seek a highly motivated Senior Project Manager to join our team. As a key member of our IT Operations team, this is a technical role responsible for planning, leading, and directing the implementation and successful delivery of Enterprise IT initiatives. This role includes leading one or more projects within the constraints of scope, time, cost, and quality to meet specified requirements in line with IMCO's priorities and goals. This role will work collaboratively with the organization’s varying levels of technology and business partners, both internal and external. This one-year contract-based role reports to Manager, IT Operations & Technology Solutions.
The Senior Project Manager – Enterprise Technology, is also responsible for understanding the technology needs of the IMCO stakeholders. This individual must have the skills to lead, influence, and follow best practice processes such as ITSM/ITIL and be familiar with modern cloud-based Information Technology capabilities. Experience in cloud infrastructure, end-user technology, collaboration tooling, and SOC2 controls is a definite asset. The overarching organizational responsibility is to deliver value-added business and technology foundational solutions and process improvements while ensuring adherence to IMCO's policies, processes and procedures and overall supportability of all applications once projects are live.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead key IT projects, including enterprise network, cloud infrastructure, IT communications, IT service management support and automation (ITIL practices), Azure and M365 management, and cybersecurity support.
- Manage all delivery aspects of IT projects: define scope, control budget, create detailed project plans, establish milestones, and manage execution.
- Communicate project expectations clearly and promptly to team members and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication mechanisms throughout the project's lifecycle.
- Lead projects through the entire Project Management Lifecycle, collaborating with Business and IT Leads, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Articulate business value, gather accurate estimates, create business cases, and mitigate risks and issues, escalating as necessary.
- Ensure creation and updating of project artifacts for documentation, reporting, and auditability.
- Ensure project alignment with IMCO's policies, project management methodology, standards, and SOC/SOC2 requirements.
- Identify and manage interdependencies between projects and initiatives.
- Monitor project financials, tracking incurred, forecasted, and accrued costs, and manage changes to project scope through accepted change management practices.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and internal clients for effective negotiation and collaboration, acting as a primary liaison between business, vendors, and IT teams.
- Participate in the development and execution of the overall company strategy as an IT team member.
- Manage project testing strategies, ensure alignment with IMCO’s change management processes, and oversee deployment in alignment with IT Architecture design.
- Champion existing products and solutions while staying current with the technology marketplace, providing project consulting support and leadership.
Qualifications and Skills
- University degree, college diploma or demonstrable experience in the field of Information Technology
- Minimum 5-7 years of direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution.
- Strong background in project management principles is a requirement; PMP certification is preferred.
- Demonstrable experience in delivery of major IT infrastructure and IT services projects is a requirement.
- Must be able to quickly learn, understand, and apply new technologies
- Demonstrated experience in personnel management; ability to defuse tension among project team if needed.
- Experience working independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
- Can adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to read the communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines and adapt accordingly.
- Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments
- Strong written and oral communication skills, negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to be persuasive, encouraging, and motivating
- Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products; sound decision-making skills
- The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
