Stantec is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Program and Construction Management team in Calgary. You will lead project teams, manage budgets and schedules, and advise clients through all life-cycle stages, applying deep construction industry knowledge and strong leadership.

You will collaborate across sectors, manage risks, and mentor staff while building relationships with stakeholders and presenting at conferences to raise the team’s profile.

Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Senior Project Manager (PM) to join our Program and Construction Management team. The PM ensures the success of assigned projects through client engagement, leadership and team management. You will focus on providing strategic advice and leadership oversight to project/program activities, expectations, and risk, while leading, supporting, and/or advising clients throughout all stages of the project life cycle. You will have a sound knowledge of the construction industry, project management functions, tools and systems and be able to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Your Key Responsibilities

Directly deliver or oversee others delivering projects and programs for Stantec’s clients that are in alignment with client expectations on quality, budget and schedule.
Obtain a solid understanding and working competency of Stantec technical systems and business processes.
Actively advise on diverse capital projects of varying size and complexity across any of the Stantec sectors.
Inspire confidence with stakeholders and the project team with your project management skills and leadership abilities.
Provide oversight on the performance of the project team and provide coaching, mentoring and leadership as required.
Engage with clients and obtain client feedback on our performance.
Raise our team’s profile in the industry and help establish your reputation as an expert within Stantec. This includes presenting at conferences or events.
Contribute in the development the annual business plan and budget for the team, as required.
Assist in team engagement and morale that is demonstrated by incremental improvement in corporate team survey results.
Assist in resource management, recruitment, and succession planning to support the growth of our team.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the HSE management system on assigned projects.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Involvement on projects delivered under a wide range of procurement methods (including DB, PDB, P3, CM etc.) is an asset.
Strong leadership skills & the ability to move a team forward, especially with leading a team of project managers and overseeing the delivery of their work with consistency in approach and quality.
Strong collaboration skills, capable of bringing multiple team members from different business lines together to successfully manage multi-disciplinary projects and programs.
Ability to manage project stakeholders by speaking clearly and persuasively with exceptional interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to perform well under the pressure of deadlines.
Adapts to a dynamic project environment and able to manage multiple tasks over an extended period.
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Proactively Identifies project risks and determines their impact on the project with a proven ability to mitigate or resolve in a timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with clients, internal teams and contractors.
Strong computer literacy in scheduling, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet software.
Experience with budget management in a package or custom software.
Strong understanding of design and construction process and requirements.
Understanding of plans, contracts and specifications.
Exceptional organizational skills and problem-solving abilities.
Believes in developing trust and relationship with the project team based on performance

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar field would be an asset.
8 years of experience across varying sectors, project scales, and complexities.
Experience in leading and managing various project teams.
An equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field may substitute for education only.
P.Eng, PMP certification, or an equivalent designation would be an asset.

Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
