Job summary

Graham in Mississauga, ON, is seeking a Senior Project Accountant / Operations Accountant to support the Buildings Construction Division. You will oversee end-to-end project accounting, including close, billing, cash flow, and compliance, collaborating with Operations on setups and process improvements.

The role requires 8+ years of project accounting experience, a commerce/accounting degree, and strong ERP skills (SAP preferred). CPA is a plus; a detail-oriented team player is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Commerce, Business, Accounting, or related field; CPA preferred.
• 8+ years of project accounting experience in construction, engineering, or heavy manufacturing.
• Advanced ERP proficiency, especially SAP, with audit/support experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead transactional accounting, reconciliations, revenue recognition, accruals, and month-end close.
• Manage subtrade contracts, owner billings, accounts receivable, collections, and change orders.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, contracts, tax, and regulatory requirements; lead audits.
• Prepare cash flow, accounts receivable/payable analyses, and support budgets and reviews.
• Partner with Operations on project setup, bids, and contract administration; drive process improvements.

Graham is actively recruiting a Senior Project Accountant / Operations Accountant to support the Buildings Construction Division (including projects in Long-Term Care, Post-Secondary, Recreation/Arenas, Manufacturing, Defence and Healthcare). Reporting to the Operations Finance Controller, this role provides end-to-end accounting and financial support for the portfolio of building projects, including project controls, reporting, budgets, and forecasts.

Your Role in Building What Matters - From Office to Site

• Project Accounting & Close - Lead transactional accounting, reconciliations, revenue recognition, accruals, and month-end close.
• Contracts, Billing & Account Receivable - Manage subtrade contracts, owner billings, Account Receivable, collections, and change order reconciliations.
• Compliance & Audits - Ensure compliance with accounting standards, contracts, tax, and regulatory requirements, lead audits.
• Financial Reporting & Cash Flow - Prepare and analyze cash flow, Account Receivable, Account Payable, and support budgets and monthly reviews.
• Operations Partnership & Process Improvement - Partner with Operations on project setup, bids, and contract administration while driving system and process improvements.

The Right Tools for the Job

• Education & Credentials: Degree in Commerce, Business, Accounting, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
• Experience: 8+ years of relevant project accounting experience, ideally in construction, engineering, or heavy manufacturing environments.
• Skills & Systems: Advanced ERP proficiency (SAP preferred), with experience supporting audits, compliance, and system/process improvements.

Compensation

• Salary Range $90,000 to $110,000 per annum
• Compensation aligned to education and experience, ensuring fair and competitive placement
• Three to five weeks of vacation, with additional credit for prior industry experience
